Disney Releases US Arrietty Trailer *Spoiler Alert*
Yes, Disney has released their trailer for the upcoming February, 2012 theatrical release of Arrietty. No, I can't believe I actually have to put a Spoiler tag on the title. Most, if not all, of the plot is given away in this trailer, including the ending. God Bless the American Cinema. In any case, enjoy if you dare.

I am blown away by this trailer.
The bad:
-SPOILERS OH MY LORDY LORD LORD.
-Did I hear right? Shou's name has been changed to... Sean?
-WHERE did this music come from? It isn't bad at all, but the original song was in ENGLISH for Christ's sake! Just leave it!!
The good:
-The cast sounds amazing.
-It sells itself in a way I can see American audiences enjoying.
-It feels pretty epic... even though I wouldn't associate that word with this movie normally...
-It's just always cool seeing an American version of something Japanese. Even if you end up hating it.

How fitting to use the song Grow Till Tall by Jónsi for the video. But I definitely prefer the original voices!
Hmm, the song in the original was in English, so I wonder why they changed it? But yeah, the US cast doesn't sound half-bad. I really enjoyed this film, and I am really looking forward to watching the American dub in theatres.
What English version? Cecile Corbel only sang Arietty's song in Japanese and French.
What the hell were Disney thinking? They've basically condensed the entire film down into 2 and a half minutes! I'm doubtful that they could have given away more of the plot if they tried!
Personally, I think the american promotion of Arrietty sounds like a heap of lies. Is Disney trying to lie to American people so that they might come and see the film ?
The poster is a lie : A pretty lie, certainly, but it doesn't respect the film's drawings. People will expect to see a genuine Disney movie with a Disney character design, but they will see a ghibli film with a Miyazaki's design.
Above all, this trailer is all wrong : No, Arrietty is not epic and it is not the kind of movie who deserves those poor sounds effect at the beggining of the trailer. And why did they changed the song ? Those people have not any respect for the artists who have made the movie, cause the song is obviously an important part from a movie. That's just like… well, you have imagine Sergio Leon's movies' music remplaced rock n roll : The music is not bad at all but it has nothing to do with it.
I'm looking forward to seeing this film. At least one studio continues to make first rate, intelligent 2D animation. The best we can hope for in the US is Winnie the Pooh or a possible Mickey Mouse feature.
@Tayo. Ceciile Corbel recorded a French, English, and Japanese version of Arrietty's Song. I've also heard a Chinese version of it (not by Corbel) on youtube as well.
ha.. Disney is using Jonsi music because Dreamworks did (HTTYD). Shocking.

"The Borrowers" was published in 1952. I think we don't have to worry *too* much about spoilers.
Just because a song is in the trailer doesn't mean it's in the movie. That said, Cecile Corbel's "Arrietty's Song" is beautiful and I'll really feel cheated if it isn't there.
