Oh, no! Variety is reporting that Robert Zemekis is re-making Yellow Submarine as a CGI motion-capture movie, in the vein of The Polar Express and Beowolf. Ugh!
Hayao Miyazaki proved the supremacy of hand-drawn animation with Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea. And Yellow Submarine is a classic of animation as craft, as art. Any computer-rendered mocap version will be an atrocity.
