Totoro Cameo Appearance in Toy Story 3

Totoro Cameo Appearance in Toy Story 3

Look who has a cameo in the upcoming Toy Story 3...

Yeeehh!!  This is a massive surprise.  I honestly never expected to see Totoro or any Studio Ghibli character in a Pixar movie.  This will bring the Ghibli Freaks out in droves.  Of course, we were going to show up in droves, anyway...

This was pretty cool. Major props to Pixar for this.

My thoughts exactly. Hmm....I wonder if Pixar should have surprised us with the Totoro cameo? Then again, have you noticed that the new Totoro DVD goes on sale in a few weeks? Clever, Pixar, very clever.

Totoro appears rather concerned to be engaging in a webchat. :-)

He's watching The Ghibli Blog, hehe hehe....

Now there's something that needs to be Photoshopped into that screenshot.

I never expected to see a real operating system and Web browser show up so consciously in an (all recreated, rather than just photographed, if you understand what I mean) film like this, even if it is a way of making reference to Steve Jobs' involvement in Pixar.

The German hedgehog, by the way, looks to me to be a reference to the Diehl brothers creation Mecki, a beloved character of German stop-motion (in as much as him being a hedgehog and in stereotypical Germanic dress, as he's much cuter and simplified than the real Mecki). It makes me wonder if the doll between them is therefore a reference to another character from another country, though I can't think of what it could be (other than Raggedy Ann, who is a character more known through picture or story books than animation).

Also, as I may as well mention this now as any other time, I've realised now why I've never found Ghibli Freaks to sound quite right despite it being "what it says on the tin": it's that I find Freaks to be too "hip" a word for an organisation as nostalgic as Ghibli… How about Ghibliites and Pixarians, or something along those lines?

Ghiblets! :)

Yeah, I say go ahead! Put all the memes out there and let them compete. Just because I came up with a name (ghibli freaks) doesn't mean it gets to stick.

For Pixar fans, my favorite so far is "pixies." I thought that sounded really catchy, but I'm probably in the minority on that one. Oh, well.

Oh, and of course, everybody can tell that Woody is typing on a Mac, right? Heh heh heh.

Pixies and Ghiblets, ha ha ha! I think I'd rather stick to Ghibli freak, or just the ever simple 'Ghibli fan' myself.:)

And yes, it's cool to see Totoro make an appearance. Reminds me of that time Lasseter was a guest on a showing Totoro, and he was talking about how everyone in Japan wanted a Totoro doll.

Some crossover fan art presented to Miyazaki from Pixar. The presentation is shown in the documentary Lasseter-san, Arigato!

Toy story 3 does just what the primary two did, delivered on all cylinders, all aspects of film-making and entertainment. The humor is position, the courage is back, the pleasing take of characters is sanction. This time, thanks to an dumbfounding playscript, there's more suspense, writer drama, and many writer surprises. Equal any striking trilogy, it wraps up all loose ends. It literally is arduous to ascertain any flaw or any easy present in this flick, and still if there is, it module payment to all the suspense is extremely inebriated. Guys, this is the go-to picture of the summer, and makes up for any failure you hit seen this twelvemonth or finally.
