Posters - Horus, Prince of the Sun

It's not "Prince Valiant," ya jerks! It's not "The Little Norse Prince." It's not "The Cutesy Cuddly Wubblies." It's not "The Happy Smiley-Face Kids and Their Repressed Alcoholic Parents." Are they doing this just to get me all wound up? Heh heh...jerks.

Anyway, ahem, here are a pair of movie posters from Italy promoting Horus, Prince of the Sun. I really like the first one, the second one, not so much. These are "boys" posters to the core, and poor Hilda is relegated to a supporting role in the first poster, and helpless damsel in the second one. She was the heart and soul of that movie, and arguably the most influential anime character of all time. Was the sight of a strong female lead character in animation so shocking, so strange, so unusual?

And here's the kicker - what does that say about us when this is still a major topic of discussion with Hayao Miyazaki at the 2009 Comic Con? Have we still not caught up? What's the deal with that?

Still, I have to say that I really, really like the design on that first poster. Great colors, great lines of motion. If they could only get the name right, we'd be in business.
