Hayao Miyazaki's 1983 storybook poem, Imoto He, "For My Sister." The story is 17 pages long and fan-translated into English. I'll post commentary in a later post. Enjoy!

Thanks for making this more accessible to everyone.
I had some problems with this one. The translation was very difficult and if it was too literal it made hardly any sense.
At times it sounds rather wooden, but its the best I could do to make it true to the original japanese.
This looks like it is probably the translation I worked on with Yohei Honda (he did most of the translation work, I wrangled the English) around the time we also worked on the annotated fan translation of Omohide Poro Poro back when I was active on the Miyazaki Mailing List in the early 1990s. It's been so long though, I'm not sure if this has since been further reedited or a new translation.
This work is very touching. I can almost hear the boy narrating the story and a little soundtrack in the background. I loved it, but I noticed that when I click on the image to enlarge it only a red "pixel" shows up. I hope this can be fixed so that we can all enjoy miyazaki's beautiful artwork. thank you.

Sweet and simple~
Hi, do you know a site where I could find the japanese version of this comic strip? It'd be great to practice my reading :)
ありがとうがおざいます!
Thanks so much for this and many thanks to the japanese fan who cared to translate it for us <3
