I'm not sure if that is all of the differences for those two films though.

Oh and Daniel, if you do make a post listing differences for Ghibli films, I don't think there is much need to focus on "Warriors of the Wind", just post the movie poster and move on, haha. =)Geoffnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24969765.post-80344837754197519232009-06-26T06:55:36.178-05:002009-06-26T06:55:36.178-05:00I agree. Liam Neeson says something like the world is out of balance, and ponyo is the only one who can save the planet? Ugh. It would seem they're making everyone's intentions in the film blatantly obvious, which totally goes against Miyazaki's goal for making it in the first place,

He wanted to make a movie that may not necessarily be understood by a 50 year old, but definitely by 5 year olds.

That is the joy of the film, trying to really connect with your childhood dreams and fantasies. Watching the film is like being a child. There may be things that you may not entirely understand but that mixture of confusion and wonder is what makes the film what it is.

Also, don't people find it odd that the trailer uses star ratings and review quotes from a review of the subbed version, that dates back to last year's Venice Film Festival? I wonder how different the review would be for Disney's 'tweaked' version?Dan Hammanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09659781968126665038noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24969765.post-60301590544414984712009-06-25T22:15:59.190-05:002009-06-25T22:15:59.190-05:00In fairness to Disney, the English dubs for "...In fairness to Disney, the English dubs for "Spirited Away" and "Howl's Moving Castle" were very well done indeed. I don't mind having well-known actors voicing the characters, so long as they remain as faithful as they can to the original Japanese dialogue. Having said that, I would much rather watch the original Ghibli version with subtitles. No matter how good the dubs are, some ideas or meanings will inevitably be lost in translation. The Cat and the Crowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03988156129843393398noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24969765.post-14760318686416189182009-06-25T21:44:09.755-05:002009-06-25T21:44:09.755-05:00You NEED to elaborate on your feelings regarding P...You NEED to elaborate on your feelings regarding Porco Rosso. I only own the Disney versions (not for mononoke) so I suppose I don't know what I am missing.

For starters, you should do a talk about each of the US Region DVD changes for each film. Seriously, it's a kid's (universal, in the way Miyazaki sensei understands it) movie with a simple, clear and straightforward message.

Any alteration on a movie is a crime.
